The Jeffrey Davidow Good Neighbor Award

Presented at the Forum’s annual Conference, the Jeffrey Davidow Good Neighbor Award honors Ambassador Davidow’s emblematic diplomatic career and recognizes individuals who promote cooperation and understanding between the U.S. and Mexico.

Awardees 2022

In 2022, the Award was presented to José Galicot, founder of Tijuana Innovadora. Thanks to his work for over 12 years, Galicot has contributed to improving the narrative of Tijuana and San Diego, thereby fostering regional integration.

USMEX also gave a public policy award to four institutions that oversaw the vaccination of more than 100,000 Mexicans along the San Diego – Tijuana border. The awardees were:

  • Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego
  • UC San Diego Health
  • Consejo de Desarrollo de Tijuana
  • San Diego County Health Department

Awardee 2023

In 2023, Gastón Luken Aguilar was granted this award due to his extraordinary contributions to the preservation
of natural resources in the region of the Sea of Cortez, also known as The World’s Aquarium.

Luken Aguilar has also helped create important environmental organizations for sustainable water management to protect and better the Colorado River and the Sea of Cortez.

Awardee 2024

the 2024 Jeffrey Davidow Good Neighbor Award was presented to Laura Diez Barroso Azcarraga and Carlos Laviada Ocejo to honor their extraordinary contributions to U.S.-Mexico mobility in the Tijuana-San Diego region. Thanks to their initiative, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico and Cross Border Xpress, have revitalized the region and, consequently, enhanced connectivity between Mexico and California.
